Prof. Farhad Shahnia🎓︎

Murdoch University, Australia (IEEE Senior Member)

Bio:Professor Farhad Shahnia is a Professor of Electrical Engineering at Murdoch University, Perth, Australia. He earned his Bachelor's (First Class Honours) and Master of Philosophy in Electrical Engineering from the University of Tabriz, and his PhD from Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Australia. Prior to academia, he worked over three years as an R&D Engineer at an electric power distribution company, shaping his applied research approach. He held positions at QUT and Curtin University before joining Murdoch University in 2015. His research covers energy transmission and distribution systems, power systems analysis, renewable energy integration, microgrids, and clean energy transformation, focusing on resilient and sustainable energy systems for renewable-rich and stand-alone power networks. He has authored one research book, edited ten books, contributed fourteen book chapters, and published over seventy peer-reviewed journal articles, along with industry technical reports. He has served as Chief Investigator on multiple nationally competitive and government-funded projects worth several million dollars, supported by ARC, ARENA, the Australian Department of Industry, Innovation and Science, DFAT, and the Department of Education, addressing microgrids, energy storage, hydrogen power systems, and urban energy resilience. Professor Shahnia has held senior leadership roles within IEEE at international, national, and state levels, editorial leadership roles across international journals, and organized over twenty conferences. He is a Fellow of Engineers Australia, a Chartered Professional Engineer, and an IEEE Senior Member. He also contributes expert submissions to parliamentary and regulatory inquiries on energy systems and electricity market reform.

Assoc. Prof. Chang Zhai🎓︎

Harbin Engineering University, China

Bio: Chang ZHAI, male, Associate Professor at Harbin Engineering University. He obtained his PhD degree from Hiroshima University, Japan, and subsequently conducted postdoctoral research at Hiroshima University and the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) of Japan. In 2024, he was selected for the National Overseas Young Talents Program. His main research interests focus on zero-carbon fuel utilization and high-efficiency atomization and combustion in internal combustion engines. Up to now, he has published more than 20 SCI-indexed papers, among which 13 were authored as the first or corresponding author. He serves as a Guest Editor for the international journals Green Energy and Resources and Processes. As the technical principal, he has participated in 6 national projects funded of Japan, as well as 5 projects with Fortune Global 500 enterprises including Yanmar, Isuzu and Mazda. He has also completed one open fund project of the National Key Laboratory as the technical principal.
